Alice's tiny little frame danced across the blooming forest. Spring had come, and everything was filled with life. The trees were no longer bare, the woodland creatures awoke from their slumber, and the sun was bright again. Here and there, the sun's light peeked through the canopy and warmed Alice's pale skin. She was silent as her small feet danced across the forest floor. The fae parted her bright pink lips and began to sing. She didn't sing words so much as syllables such as "ah" and "la" in her high soprano vocals. The doe didn't care if she warned the woodland creatures of her presence, as she wasn't here to hunt, but gather. Her trilling voice rang through the silent forest as her song shot higher and higher in pitch until it was an almost inhuman sound. She continued skipping through the forest until some berries of an ebony color caught her emerald optical. "La-da-dum-dee-ah." she continued in her chirpy, bird-like voice. She ran forward with a sudden burst of speed and leapt into the air, twirling around, before landing softly on a bed of pine needles. The dove lent out a small hand and plucked a single black berry off of the bush and threw it into the air, catching it in her tiny mouth before it hit the ground. Alice wasn't at all a big person. Standing at only 4' 10" she tended to look a bit weak. She was very thin, but what she lacked in muscle she made up for with her speed and agility. Alice continued dancing through the forest, singing her sweet melody. Here and there, she would pluck a single berry off of a bush, but for the most part she left the bushes and creatures alone. She would never dare harm another animal, seeing as she was vegetarian.

Markus Gorogn, now King of Arden, walked into the Samolin Thiket to tell any villagers that he was now their king. He saw a little woman dancing around and walked over. "Hello M'lady." he said politely as he waited for the peasant to greet him. Markus was a kind man, and could tell that this woman was kind also. He smiled as he thought of the human race.

Alice's trilling song was interrupted by a man's voice. As he approached her she studied him. He was obviously a few years older than she and he towered over her. He looked like a kind man, though, so she knew he couldn't be that bad. Her emerald eyes sparkled as her tiny crania looked up at him. He was a good foot taller than her, probably more. She parted her bright pink lips and shot him a dazzling white smile. "Hi, I'm Alice." she said, her soprano vocals trilling. She skipped in a circle around him before putting a slightly more serious look on her face. (But come one, how serious could she be?) "And you are..?" There wasn't a hair out of place on her perfectly un-neat head. Her short black locks spiked out to the side, accenting her pale skin. She continued her song, acting as if he wasn't there, as she awaited a reply. Her song still sported no words, but it was beautiful all the same. The pitches of her song reached new heights, almost making up for her physical lack of it. She danced around, hardly caring if he was there, but made sure not to stray too much so that her petite ears would catch his reply.

Markus smiled. "I am Markus Gorgon, and I am your new kind." he chuckled to himself. "I heard your song as I was walking past, and it caught my ears so, I had to come and see who that voice belonged to. I believe I may have assumed you wrong when I heard you voice, but I see that all is right where it should be." Markus smiled again as she danced. This woman may be small, but no doubt that she could pack a punch.

"Well it is very nice to mmet you." she said, nodding. And with that she put a thin leg behind her and bowed down into a curtsy. "What brings you to the forest today? Or could you hear my song from far away?" she said curiously, chuckling. "I am here, eating a few berries, but mostly because I love the forest. Especially the birds." she said, shooting him another smile. Alice could almost be seen as a child, but if you spent too long with her you would realize that she is just a very happy and enterjetic induvidual. She went back into her cheery melody, quieter this time. She turned and assesed the space in front of her before bringing her right leg back. Her left leg remained in front of her as her thin, right arm curled in front of her. She stuck her left arm straight out to the side before spinning, four times, around in a pirouette. "I love dancing and singing, too." The pale fem said cheerfully. "Do you?" she picked up her song again, maximizing her volume to ring through the peaceful forest.

Markus smiled, "I love Dancing and singing, and Im good at dancing, but when I sing people cover their poor ears." He laughed. "But yes, i am not here just because I heard you song, but because it is my duty to tell my people that I am their new King. The King of Arden." He looked at her and smiled brightly. "And I am on a quest to seek a queen to aid me in my ruling."

Alice listened to his reply, smiling. "I am glad we have a king that is kind-hearted." she said, sunlight dancing in her emerald eyes. "I hope you find a queen worthy of ruling this fine kingdom." she said, her finely carved features turned upwards to look at him. "I'm glad others share my liking for music. It is such a beautiful thing I would be quite dreary if others didn't learn to appreciate it." She danced in a tight circle around him, leaping upwards so that she could whisper a quiet melody into his ears. This one wasn't as high as her normal song, seeing as she didn't want to hurt his ears, but it was still a beautiful, small melody. "I'm sure your singing isn't that bad." she said, letting a slight chuckle escape her full lips. "I was blessed to have parents that sang to me." she said, looking downwards. Her parents were dead now, and it still brought sadness into her eyes when she thought of them. But she tried to only think of the happy things they brought onto her, and that always brought a smile to her beautiful face. She had always stood on her father's feet and danced with him, singing all the while. Her parents had caused her cheery personality and love for music, and she would always love them dearly for that.

Markus saw that she was upset about something. he put his arm around her. "Alice, do not fret over History, for much of that only brings pain and hatred." he advised. "But Alice, I see that you are a kind woman, and I think I have a position for you, if you will take it."

As he put his arm around her, she smiled, although it was quite large, she still loved physical contact with another. It always comforted her when someone hugged her or put an arm around her. Her emerald eyes sparked with excitement as she listened to his kind words. She let out a small gasp and parted her lips to speaks. "Oh, I would love to have a position in this fine kingdom." she said, her soprano vocals shooting through the roof with excitement. She loved to help the people around her in any way she could, and if that meant that she could have a position here, she would surely take it. She twirled around and turned to face him, looking upwards so that her white smile could be seen. "A request from the king." she sang, trilling her high voice upwards. She continued humming a completely new melody that sported a more exciting sound.[/i]

Markus smiled. "Duchess m'lady? And maybe later on a promotion above, depending how our lives go." The king said. He would like to have her as Queen, but did not want to be to rash about it. Duchess would be perfect for now. He smiled as he thought of it. As he though of little Alice.

Alice's small, perfect mouth fell open in a gasp. "Oh! I would love to be duchess!" she said, her soprano vocals reaching ever-higher. She burst forward and leapt into the air, spiining gracefully, before throwing her small, thin arms around him, hugging his large frame to her petite one. "Thank you!" she said with the largest grin she could fit apon her small face. Her happiness seemed to radiate off of her like the sun's light. The kind-hearted usually couldn't stay around Alice for long without smiling at her pure happiness. "The fine king has granted me duchess!" she sang, her voice ringing through the forest. "Be joyful, everyone!" she continued, talking partly to the king and mostly to the woodland creatures. Most people thought she was annoying, but the woodland creatures never seemed to mind her loud singing and she thought of them as her freinds. Her sparkling emerald eyes fell once more apon the king and she danced over to him, reading the expression on his face.

Markus smiled and his eyes sparkled. "Well i am glad you accept my dear. And if you wish you can come live in the castle, or you may stay here." He was extremely happy that she had accepted, and he liked it how she had hugged him. She was full of joy. Not a piece of evil in her. she couldn't hurt a fly. And that was why he liked her so much.

"I would love to live in the castle with you as long as I may have my freedom. I couldn't bear part with my friends." she said, smiling. Alice was of course referring to the woodland creatures that she loved so much. She often spent her mornings singing along with her favorite, the birds. "You see, the animals here don't mind my constant singing and dancing, as some humans do." she said, nodding. "The animals here sing, too, along with me." she said, her voice trilling matter-of-factly. "The chirping birds and the rustling leaves make quite beautiful music, you just have to listen close enough." She reached up to put a single finger on his lips, her mouth halfway open in a smile as she gestured for him to listen to the forest surrounding them. Sure enough, she could hear the gentle bubbling of a small brook and the slight rustling of a scurrying creature. Even the birds chirped happily around them, singing a song of their own.

Markus smiled at her touch. he smiled wider when he heard the song coming from earth. He kissed her finger and removed it from his lips. "Of course you may have your freedom, Duchess Alice." He smiled. "May I?" he said and held out his arm to her, intending on leading the way to the castle.

She felt his hand remove her finger from his lips and his gentle voice interrupted the forest's song. Before she spoke she let a dazzling smile cross her face once more. "Of course." But Alice was not one to walk all fancy like, so instead she skipped forward and took his large hand in her small, thin one and danced a foot or so ahead of him, a smile plastered on her face. Her spiky hair reached out to catch the generous rays of light that peeked through the forest canopy as she skipped cheerfully. Her tiny frame looked almost breakable compared to Markus's larger one as they moved through the forest. Her small feet made no sound as they danced lightly across the leaves and needles that covered the forest floor. With her smallness came speed and agility. While larger humans crashed through the forest with hteir large feet and frames, her movements were lithe and made no noise, one of the pros of being so small.
