The pixie-like fae stood at the base of the tall mountain assessing the climb before her. It would be a long and difficult climb, yes, but it wouldn't be impossible. She had started in the early morning and planned to climb without stopping for a few hours. Climbing would be more difficult for her, since her petite frame didn't offer her much help in climbing; it would take longer for her short legs to carry her to the top. She began the treacherous climb up the side of the mountain, not going straight, but in a zigzag path up the mountain. This way would take longer, but it would reserve her strength for the real challenge that lay at the top of the peak.
She prayed silently to Hera to give her strength in her travels before parting her bright pink lips to begin a song. Her enchanting song began as she warmed up her voice. The petite ess wasn't singing words so much as syllables such as "la" and "dee". Her melody climbed higher and higher in pitch until she was at the top of her high soprano range. It was almost like an opera singer, but more chirpy and sweet.
The sun slowly began to rise, peeking through the mist that clung to the mountain, causing it to be harder to see. Yes, it was a cloudy day, but it was better than working in the harsh summer temperatures. The sun slowly peeked through the cloud bank, dancing off of Alice's pale skin. The higher she reached, the steeper the climb grew. Her small, thin legs were growing slightly weary. But she had to keep going. She was not climbing this mountain for selfish reasons, but to bring peace upon the lands. She hoped for a power that would help her in her quest to make the lands a better place. As duchess of Arden, it was partly her job to lead the lands. And she had vowed that she would help the kingdom in any way she could. If that meant making a large climb and facing the powerful gods, then so be it.
As she neared the peak of the mountain, she lowered her singing, making it quieter and softer. Even though her muscles protested moving any further, she knew she must. And then the land grew flatter. It sloped no further. The small fae smiled to herself, knowing that she had finally reached the peak. She parted her full lips. "I call for Hera, God of all that is good! It is I, Alice. I come with a request. I have sought you out to request a power that will aid me in bringing peace to the lands." the fae chirped, her soprano vocals tainted slightly, just slightly, with weariness.
She turned her beautiful face upwards, letting her emerald gaze fall upon the sky. The truth was she had never spoken one-on-one with a god before. She didn't know whether they did, in fact, swoop in from the sky. Or maybe they didn't even appear as a figure. Maybe it was just a powerful voice that rang in your ears. Whatever it was, Alice's ears and eyes were open, ready for anything that may approach her.
